From Rosario to World Champion: A Student Biography of Lionel Messi

ELionel Messi was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina. He grew up loving soccer and showed great talent at a young age.


In 1995, Messi joined his first soccer team, Newell’s Old Boys, in Rosario when he was 8 years old. He played very well and quickly became one of the best players on the team.


When Messi was 13 years old, he moved to Spain to join FC Barcelona’s under-14 team. It was a big change for him because he was far away from his family, but he worked very hard. He scored 21 goals in 14 games for the junior team and impressed his coaches.


As he grew older, Messi became a key player for FC Barcelona. He helped the team win many games and championships. While playing for Barcelona, Messi won many important awards. He won the Ballon d’Or multiple times, which is given to the best soccer player in the world. He also won several Golden Boot awards for scoring the most goals in Europe. Messi won awards such as La Liga Best Player, Champions League Top Scorer, and FIFA World Player of the Year. These awards showed how talented and hardworking he was. Messi became known as one of the greatest players in FC Barcelona’s history.


In 2010, he became the captain of Barcelona.


In March 2012, at age 24, Messi scored his 233rd goal for the club. In 2014, he broke scoring records in both the Champions League and La Liga.


Although Argentina did not win the World Cup in 2014, Messi won the Golden Ball award for being the best player in the tournament.


In 2022, Messi led Argentina to the World Cup final against France. The match ended in a 3–3 tie, and Argentina won 4–3 in the penalty shootout. Messi was named the best player of the tournament, making it one of the greatest moments of his career.
